How your hearing care may be funded

The cost of hearing care depends on the support you need and the funding you’re eligible for. In many cases, financial assistance is available.

You may be eligible for:

  • Fully covered care – for eligible pensioners and veterans through government programs
  • Partial cover – through private health insurance (depending on your policy)
  • Medicare rebates – for hearing assessments with a referral
  • Private pay options – no referral needed, with costs explained upfront

Funding options explained

There are several ways your hearing care may be funded, depending on your eligibility and circumstances.

Explore the options below to understand what may apply to you — and if you’re unsure, our team can help guide you.

Medicare

If you have a referral from your GP, ENT or neurologist, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate for a full hearing assessment. Please bring your referral to your appointment so we can process this correctly.

Private health insurance

Private health insurance may help cover part of the cost of your hearing aids, depending on your provider and level of cover. We recommend checking with your health fund before your appointment to understand what benefits may be available to you.

Pensioners

Eligible pensioners may be able to access fully subsidised hearing assessments, with hearing devices (assistive listening devices or hearing aids) fully or partially covered through the Hearing Services Program. Ongoing support and maintenance may also be available depending on your circumstances.

Veterans

Eligible veterans may be able to access fully subsidised hearing assessments and hearing devices (assistive listening devices or hearing aids) through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs. Ongoing maintenance and support may also be available as part of this funding.

Private pay

If you choose to pay privately, no referral is needed. You can book an appointment directly, and our team will explain any costs involved before you proceed so you can make an informed decision.
