What to expect
Your appointment is designed to be thorough, comfortable and informative. At any stage, you’re encouraged to ask questions.
1. Initial consultation
We’ll start by learning about you — your hearing history, lifestyle, and any concerns you may have.
2. Ear examination
We will examine your outer ear, ear canal and eardrum, including a pressure test. This is not uncomfortable or invasive, and any issues will be clearly explained.
3. Hearing assessment
You will complete a series of tests in a sound booth, where you’ll respond to tones and speech. This helps us determine the level and pattern of your hearing, as well as your ability to understand conversations in both quiet and noisy environments.
4. Personalised results & next steps
Following your assessment, your clinician will explain your results and discuss the most appropriate next steps based on your hearing and goals.
Types of appointments
We offer a range of assessment types depending on your needs.
You may benefit from a hearing assessment if you are experiencing:
Difficulty hearing conversations
Ringing or buzzing in the ears (tinnitus)
Ear pain or discomfort
Trouble hearing in noisy environments
Exposure to loud noise or machinery
Episodes of vertigo
It is also recommended that individuals have regular hearing check-ups from around the age of 55, even if no symptoms are present.
Understanding your results
Your results
After your assessment, your clinician will walk you through your results and what they mean for your hearing.
Your hearing is displayed on a graph called an audiogram, which shows:
The softest sounds you can hear at different pitches
The type of hearing loss (if present)
Your ability to understand speech in quiet and noisy environments
This helps put your hearing into context and explains why certain situations may be more challenging.
Recommendations
Based on your results and goals, we will guide you through the most appropriate next steps.
This may include:
Monitoring your hearing over time
Referral to a GP or ENT specialist
Hearing aids or other treatment options
A report will be provided to you and, where appropriate, shared with your medical provider.
Costs and funding options
There are a range of funding options available that may help cover the cost of your hearing assessment.
Depending on your eligibility, you may have access to:
Medicare rebates (with a referral)
Private health insurance contributions
Hearing Services Program (for eligible pensioners)
Department of Veterans’ Affairs support
If you choose to pay privately, we will clearly explain all costs upfront before your appointment.
Take the next step with a comprehensive hearing assessment. Our team will contact you to arrange a time that suits you.
